Social media optimization for more return

As a company, are you using social media to reach your target audience, but not yet getting the desired results from it? Then perhaps it is time to focus on social media optimization. Optimizing your social media will increase your return on investment! We explain why you are not getting the results you want and what you can do to get the results you want by starting with social media optimization.

Why you are not yet achieving your desired results

What am I doing wrong? That's probably what you're asking yourself when there are just no extra likes on Facebook, no followers appearing on Instagram and the website isn't attracting any extra visitors either. This can have several causes. We list a few:

  • You have not set goals
  • You don't monitor how your current expressions on social media are performing
  • There is no regularity in posts on social media
  • The messages do not match the interests of the target audience

The above points are common mistakes made by companies that don't know exactly how best to use social media. We will discuss each point and tell you how to do it.

Setting goals

Decide in advance what goals you want to achieve. If you don't set goals, you also can't measure whether your efforts on social media are getting results. Sounds simple, but many companies forget this or do not measure their results using objectives. By setting goals, you can start using social media effectively. After all, one objective requires a different approach than another. An important step in the process of social media optimization.

Social media optimization means measuring results

What are your efforts on social media actually paying off? Based on the previously defined objectives, you can measure whether your efforts are effective. Based on the results, you can make adjustments to see if a different approach might work better.

Be active on social media

Posting on Facebook once every few months does not make much sense. It is important that you have an active presence on social media as a business. Post something on your social media channels at least 3 times a week. Especially on Instagram, you need to post often, otherwise followers will quickly drop out. Don't have time to post every day? Then set aside a fixed time for this on a weekly or monthly basis. Posts can be scheduled. You can create all content in advance, so you do not have to post every day. However, it is important to monitor what is happening on your social media channels on a daily basis. Is the target audience responding? Then respond back to them as well! This way you interact with the target group. This will give the target group a positive attitude towards your brand, without you being seen as intrusive.
Complaints can also be handled quickly through social media. Respond to them actively. This way you also increase customer satisfaction.

Create content that fits the target audience

This is perhaps the most common mistake, but also the biggest cause of poorly performing social media accounts. Make sure you create content that fits the target audience and their interests. Are you only promoting your own products? Then the target audience will quickly drop out and not follow you. They want to see and read posts that appeal to them. Share information they don't already know, but want to know. Share pictures that inspire them and ask questions they want answers to. Create content for your target audience and not content that you are so eager to tell them yourself. You can do this occasionally, but make sure only 20% of all content is about your services or products.
